1. Trou aux Cerfs
Mauritius is born thanks to an intense volcanic formation. The extinct volcano is 80m high and 300m in diameter. Unlike the typical volcanic features, Trou aux Cerfs’ crater is surrounded by a vast lush forest consisting of indigenous plant species and some giant green pine trees.
It is believed that the Trou aux Cerfs erupted once and has remained dormant for the last 2 million years; experts believe that there is a possible chance for it to become active again for the next thousands years.
2. Grand Bassin
Also known as a scared lake. You are welcomed by two big statues of 33m in height and have almost seen one kilometer away. Lord Shiva and the goddess Durga maa. What is a nice place if you need a break for meditation, feeling relaxed and discovering the Hindu temples and many more statues devotees. The scared lake was banned for fishing which got plenty of fish around and perhaps you also might see some monkeys.
